Want the easy route? The ready-made Mac packages already include the matching Java runtime, Paper, TT Interactive, ServerTap, and the TikFinity profile.

Manual Mac setup steps

These steps start with an empty folder and a separate Java installation.

1Get Minecraft Java Edition

You need Minecraft: Java Edition, not Bedrock. Open the launcher and note your game version and Minecraft username.

2Install the Correct Java Version

Paper's Java requirement depends on your Minecraft version:

  • Minecraft/Paper 26.1 or newer: Java 25
  • Minecraft/Paper 1.20 through 1.21.11: Java 21

Amazon Corretto provides macOS installers. Choose aarch64 for Apple Silicon (M1/M2/M3/M4/M5 or newer) or x64 for Intel Macs.

After installing, open Terminal and run java -version to check it.

3Create Your Server Folder

Create an empty folder such as TikTok LIVE Minecraft Server. In TextEdit, choose Format → Make Plain Text and create eula.txt containing:

eula=true

Create another plain-text file named run.command containing:

#!/bin/zsh
cd "$(dirname "$0")"
java -Xms2G -Xmx4G -jar paper.jar --nogui

Open Terminal, type chmod +x with a space after +x, drag run.command into Terminal, then press Return.

4Download PaperMC

Download Paper for the same Minecraft version you use. Move the downloaded JAR into your server folder and rename it exactly paper.jar.

5Install Plugins

Create a plugins folder. Add ServerTap (required) and optionally DelayedTNT.

Your folder should now contain eula.txt, run.command, paper.jar and plugins/.

6Start the Server

Double-click run.command. Terminal will open and start the server. Allow Terminal or Java access if macOS asks.

Wait until the server reports Done, then type:

op YourMinecraftUsername

Keep Terminal open while you play. Type stop and press Return to shut the server down safely.

7Connect in Minecraft
  1. Open Minecraft Java.
  2. Choose Multiplayer.
  3. Choose Direct Connection.
  4. Enter 127.0.0.1.
  5. Click Join Server.

Use /gamemode creative if you want Creative Mode while setting things up.

8Connect TikFinity

On Mac, use the TikFinity Web App in Chrome or Firefox.

  1. Connect your TikTok account.
  2. Open Setup.
  3. Scroll to Minecraft Connection.
  4. Enter your Minecraft username.
  5. Set the server connection to 127.0.0.1:4567.
  6. Click Test Connection.

Your server must be running. Keep the TikFinity tab open while streaming and exempt it from browser memory/energy saving if needed.

9Create Your Gift Commands

In TikFinity, create an Action using Exec Minecraft Command, then create an Event that maps a gift or comment to that action.

Spawn Creeper:
execute at PlayerName run summon creeper ~5 ~5 ~

Give Diamond:
execute at PlayerName run give PlayerName diamond 1

Teleport 100 Blocks Up:
execute at PlayerName run tp PlayerName ~ ~100 ~

TNT Rain (needs DelayedTNT):
tnt 5 1 3

Replace PlayerName with your Minecraft username.

10Add to Your Streaming App & Go Live

Copy TikFinity's Screen 1 URL and add it as a browser or link source in your Mac streaming app. In OBS or Streamlabs, choose Browser Source. In LIVE Studio, use Link if that source type is available in your Mac build.

Test your commands using the ▶ play icon next to an action or TikFinity's Event Simulator.

LIVE Studio features can vary by app version and account. OBS or Streamlabs are the fallback when a source type is missing.

Not Working?

  • Is run.command still running?
  • Did the server reach Done?
  • Can Minecraft join 127.0.0.1?
  • Is ServerTap inside the plugins folder?
  • Is your Minecraft username correct in TikFinity?
  • Is the TikFinity browser tab still open?
